Pdf Summary
Hospitalmedicine.org is creating a bank of short, prepared lectures called SHM Clinical Quick Talks for busy hospitalists to use during teaching rounds or brief sit-down sessions. These talks are designed to be given in less than 10 minutes and should ideally be accompanied by a printed handout. The talks will cover various topics, but suggestions for additional topics are also encouraged. Each submission will go through a peer-reviewed process, with two to three reviewers evaluating each talk. The author's name will be included in the document and may be cited as an online publication in a curriculum vitae. Reviewers' names will also be published to acknowledge their contribution. Presentations should be one to two pages in length and should be short and easily digestible. Powerpoint presentations can also be submitted, but should include a word document and be in line with the goals of a talk that can be easily taught by a clinician-educator. Talks should be in bullet/outline form, chart/table format, or algorithm/flow chart. Each talk should end with a section on clinical pearls, providing more advanced information relevant to the clinical wards. Most topics may include a brief case example to illustrate the principles discussed. The talks should be aimed at an advanced resident level and authors should be responsible for updating their content if there are major developments in the field. Reviewers should focus on content and form when providing feedback on the talks, using major and minor comments to highlight areas for revision. Each talk will be reviewed by two to three reviewers and their comments will be sent back to the author for revision.
