Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, learners should be able to:
  1. Differentiate between insulin and non-insulin antihyperglycemic therapies in hospitalized patients, identifying when to use, hold, or resume each medication. Understand their key side effects, monitoring requirements, and when to safely re-introduce for discharge planning.
  2. Identify and evaluate key goals and challenges in inpatient glycemic management, including specialized situations such as steroid-induced hyperglycemia, renal impairment, and perioperative managerment.
  3. Explain and demonstrate effective management approaches for hospitalized patients using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices.
  4. Design and implement safe and effective strategies for transitioning patients from inpatient to outpatient diabetes management.
