Antimicrobial Resistance for the Hospitalist - On Demand 2026
Rounds feel different when a pan-resistant culture hits the inbox. In this focused session, hospitalists quickly recognize Candida auris, vancomycin-nonsusceptible Staphylococcus aureus, and Gram-negatives that produce beta-lactamases and carbapenemases, then know when and how to treat with current agents and strategies. Through real cases and succinct algorithms, you'll sharpen bedside judgment and cut time to effective therapy.

Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, learners should be able to:
  1. Recognize and treat antibiotic resistance in Staphylococcus aureus, including methicillin-resistant strains with reduced susceptibility to vancomycin.
  2. Recognize and treat infection with the emerging hospital pathogen Candida auris.
  3. Recognize the Gram-negative rods most likely produce inducible AmpC beta-lactamases, and know how to treat them.
  4. Recognize infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative rods, and to be aware of the side effects of new antibiotics used to treat them.
