Accreditation

SHM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

SHM designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 100 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Statement

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 100 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

How do I get started?

After purchasing Spark Edition 3, get started with by clicking Go to Content. Choose a category to begin answering questions for credit or build your own practice exam. You can use Spark on a computer or by downloading the iOS SHM Learning app for a fully mobile experience. Please note there is no Android app available at this time. Android users may still access the mobile-friendly web app via their phone.

How do I navigate Spark?

Spark is easy to use! Complete each category to claim your credits or build your own practice exam to test yourself. Your progress will be saved as you complete questions.

You can use Spark on your computer by logging in at education.hospitalmedicine.org or using our iOS app, SHM Learning. Use one or both - however you learn best!

How do I claim my CME credits and MOC points?

To claim CME credit, you will need to complete a full category set of questions with a passing score of 75% and fill out the CME evaluation. The practice exam is not eligible for credit claim.

If you are an American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) diplomate enrolled in Maintenance of Certification, you can also claim your MOC points along with your CME. All ABIM MOC points will be directly reported to the ACCME PARS System.

To verify that your ABIM MOC points and CME credits have been claimed, you can review your activity transcript by Transcript in the left-hand navigation. You will be able to see your completed activities and associated credits listed there.

Can I retake a category if I do not receive a passing score?

Yes. If you do not receive a passing score of 75%, you will be able to reset the category for additional attempts. You have the option to reset entirely or only reset your incorrect answers. There is not a limit to how many times you may reset, but credit will not be awarded until a passing score is achieved.

Will Spark help me prepare for the inpatient version of the Internal Medicine 10-year exam or Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment program?

Yes! In addition to the FPHM exam, Spark Edition 3 is also aligned with the blueprint underpinning both of the inpatient Internal Medicine pathways to recertification. For more information and to learn which pathway is right for you, please visit the ABIM website
