SHM SHINE New Attending Program

Join the 2026 SHINE Live Cohort

Connect with experienced hospitalist coaches and other new attendings for practical conversations about the challenges that come with starting independent practice.

Through three interactive virtual sessions and optional coaching opportunities, you'll be able to ask questions, compare experiences, troubleshoot real situations, and get guidance you can use in your day-to-day practice.

What to expect

Practical discussion. Talk through the situations and decisions new attendings encounter in real-world hospital medicine practice.

Experienced perspective. Ask hospitalist coaches how they approach difficult, unfamiliar, or high-friction situations.

Peer connection. Learn alongside other early-career hospitalists navigating many of the same challenges.

Optional coaching. Get additional support through drop-in coaching hours and opportunities for more individualized guidance.

How live session registration works

Registering here enrolls you in the SHINE Live Cohort. After your enrollment is processed, you'll receive a separate email inviting you to register for the individual live sessions you would like to attend. You may participate in one, two, or all three sessions based on your interests and availability.

2026 Live Sessions

Sessions combine brief practical insights from experienced hospitalists with facilitated discussion, questions, and peer conversation. Topics may be adjusted based on the needs and questions of the cohort.

Talk through managing a team, navigating situations when you don't know the answer, and other early-career challenges with coaches and peers.

Building an Efficient Practice

Explore approaches to efficient rounding, multidisciplinary care, and the real-world workflow challenges that can make a new attending's day harder.

Thursday, November 5 | 3:00–4:00 PM ET

Navigating Challenging Interactions

Discuss approaches to difficult consults, challenging patient encounters, and other questions submitted by members of the cohort.

SHINE coaches will also offer optional drop-in coaching opportunities throughout the program, with additional opportunities to connect individually when more personalized guidance would be helpful.

Who should participate?

SHINE is designed for hospitalist attendings in their first one to two years of independent practice. The 2026 Live Cohort is limited to 50 participants to support meaningful discussion, coaching, and peer connection.
