Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, learners should be able to:
  1. Describe the risk of euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis with the use of SGLT2 inhibitors and the rationale for stopping them before surgery.
  2. Evaluate the recommendations for the perioperative management of GLP-1 receptor agonists.
  3. Analyze recent evidence for stopping (or continuing) ACE inhibitors and ARBs in the perioperative period.
  4. Examine the evidence for managing commonly used medications for rheumatologic disease in the perioperative period including TNF alpha inhibitors, JAK inhibitors, and glucocorticoids ("stress-dose" steroids).
  5. Evaluate the recommendations for the perioperative management of buprenorphine.
