Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, learners should be able to:
  1. Describe the incidence and prevalence of Parkinson's Disease and understand why Parkinson's disease patients are admitted to the hospital.
  2. Identify the symptoms and nuances of the disease and the medications that are given to patients with Parkinson's. Recognize the critical importance of timely and accurate medication management for hospitalized patients with Parkinson's disease to prevent avoidable complications.
  3. Recognize the risk factors that can lead to hospital complications for patients with Parkinson's disease, including motor symptom deterioration and increased fall risk, and apply evidence-based strategies to mitigate these risks.
  4. Learn the best care practices for patients with Parkinson's disease, including medication reconciliation and interdisciplinary consultations, to improve their outcomes in the hospital setting.
