This Leadership Capstone course includes a two-day in-person program, plus an ongoing six-month learning component that allows participants to continue developing leadership skills throughout the coming year. With the completion of Capstone, participants are eligible to earn a Certificate of Leadership in Hospital Medicine (CLHM) Designation.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the two-day course, learners will be able to

Appraise their own leadership ability and develop a professional development plan to enhance strengths and minimize blind spots.
Plan and operationalize a transformative project, and audit gaps in active plans and projects at their institution.

As the number of hospitalists grows, so too will the clinical settings in which we practice. Consultative medicine is a service provided by many hospitalists, and a future in which almost all surgical patients are co-managed by hospitalists is already a reality for some.
