Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, learners should be able to:
  • Understand the indications for performing abdominal & GU POCUS
  • Describe optimal machine settings, appropriate transducers, proper probe positioning and imaging planes for abdominal ultrasound applications
  • Identify normal anatomic structures
  • Recognize common pathology, including:
    • Free intraperitoneal fluid
    • Hydronephrosis
    • Bladder volume
    • Gallbladder pathology
  • Understand the limitations and pitfalls of abdominal POCUS
  • Integrate POCUS findings with the overall clinical presentation
