The presenters urged clinicians to avoid priming bias by including race or identity unnecessarily in the HPI and to use neutral, patient-centered language instead.<br /><br />Practical strategies included self-reflection, taking an implicit association test, using interpreters, practicing perspective-taking, recognizing high-cognitive-load situations when bias is more likely, and speaking up when stigmatizing language is used. The session concluded by encouraging attendees to identify one concrete change they could make in daily practice to reduce bias and improve equity.
