It also emphasized the educational value of the program, noting a popular medical student and residency elective designed to train future physicians in procedural skills.<br /><br />Over four years, the team completed more than 8,000 bedside procedures with a complication rate comparable to or better than interventional radiology. The authors concluded that a well-trained hospitalist procedure team can significantly enhance the value of hospital medicine while improving patient flow, reducing delays, and preserving important procedural skills in internal medicine training.
