Clinical outcomes also improved, with both mortality and floor length of stay decreasing after implementation.<br /><br />The authors conclude that the combination of PERT, provider education, and increased specialized care likely contributed to better outcomes for PE patients. However, they note that interpretation of the mortality findings is limited because the pre-PERT group included more ICU admissions and higher-risk patients. Further research is needed to determine whether the lower mortality trend persists over time.
