This poster evaluates a 12-month hospital medicine fellowship for advanced practice providers (APPs) at the University of Utah, started in 2017. After graduation, APPs strongly wanted to join the hospitalist group.<br /><br />Areas for improvement were also identified. Feedback was generally given every three months, which half the respondents felt was “slightly too little,” suggesting that more frequent feedback may be beneficial. Another major gap was bedside procedures: APPs reported feeling inadequately trained in this area. The study suggests the fellowship is valuable and well-received, but could be strengthened by increasing feedback frequency and enhancing procedural training.<br /><br />Overall, the authors conclude that the APP hospital medicine fellowship was viewed as a worthwhile educational experience that supported career development and readiness for hospital medicine practice.
